HevyDevy Records, located in Maple Ridge and Burnaby (both in the province of British Columbia, Canada), is a label created by, and for, artist Devin Townsend out of necessity and frustration. His goal is never to compromise artistic value or musicality in favour of commercial success or image. Devin's first project, Strapping Young Lad, was signed to Century Media Records in 1995 but Devin decided that other labels moved slower and were more cautious than he would have liked so he began the label in 1996 with his first independent release, Ocean Machine. This was followed by the compilation album GRRRR!!; Zimmers Hole from members of Strapping Young Lad, Infinity, Physicist, and many more to follow. Devin is in charge of the creative aspects of the label while HevyDevy president, Tracy Turner, handles the business aspects as well as public relations. We apologise to all up and coming bands out there but HDR is for Devin's projects only and will not be expanding into other material. Sorry.
